Review: [TITLE OF SHOW], Southwark Playhouse
Director Christopher D. Clegg assembles Jacob Fowler (Hunter), Abbie Budden (Heidi), Mary Moore (Susan), and Thomas Oxley (Jeff) as the quartet, while Tom Chippendale is their accompanying pianist Larry. New casts will never have that je-ne-sais-quoi of the artists playing themselves, but, if the chemistry is there (and here it is indeed), the material is a boisterous enough journey through music and stressful deadlines bolstered up by meaningful friendships. Mind you, the piece is reasonably sized but, here, it regrettably comes off as a filler production to tide the venue over.Â

Review: KIM'S CONVENIENCE, Riverside Studios
Kim’s Convenience is a tight hug of a show. There’s enough here for plenty of laughter and a little bit of heartstring-pulling. It’s not trying to be the next breakthrough or radical piece, and therefore, in its form, it’s great. If you’re looking for some warmth as the weather grows colder, add a trip to Kim’s Convenience to your ‘to-do’ list.Â
Review: WHY AM I SO SINGLE?, Garrick Theatre
Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss' new show Why Am I So Single? is billed as 'A big fancy musical'. Bright, bold and funny, it is unashamedly focused on the Gen-Z experience, but gets lost with indulgent in-jokes, repetition and an over-long running time.
Review: A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN THE MUSICAL, Peacock Theatre
Who wouldn’t want to spend a night with Janis Joplin? Despite barely hitting the charts on this side of the pond, the American singer still symbolises the best (and worst) of the Sixties over fifty years before she joined the 27 Club. Not that you would know from this show.
