HBO Original Comedy Series FANTASMAS Debuts This June

The HBO Original comedy series Fantasmas, created, directed, written, and starring Julio Torres (“Problemista,” HBO’s “Los Espookys”), will debut this June on HBO and will be available to stream on Max. In Fantasmas, Julio Torres tells the tale of when he lost a golden oyster. The people he encounters as he searches for it and the musings he has become points of departure for little films along the way, as Torres navigates weaving in and out of these introspective, often eerie comedic stories.

Comedy Central and Refinery29 today announced a digital-content partnership for two series from Comedy Central Productions produced in partnership with Refinery29 that will identify and showcase an all-female lineup of fast-rising comedians with distinct voices. Slated to premiere next spring, the series will be co-branded and distributed on Comedy Central and Refinery29 digital platforms.
Quibi Greenlights RENO 911! Season Seven from Comedy Central Productions

Beloved comedy series RENO 911! has been greenlit for a new, seventh season by Quibi, it was announced today by Quibi and producing partner Comedy Central Productions. The ensemble comedy was created by and stars Robert Ben Garant, Kerri Kenney-Silver and Thomas Lennon, all of whom are attached to write and star in the new season. Peter Principato of Artists First will executive produce the series along with Danny DeVito, Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher of Jersey Television. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

IFC today revealed five new 'slightly off' original comedies in development: Almost Asian, a series chronicling the life of a mixed-race millennial in Los Angeles; Annika Erotica, a series following a young Colorado pastor who harbors a secret passion for writing erotic novels under a pen name; Art Thieves, an adventure comedy following three misfit criminals who fancy themselves to be the Robin Hoods of the art world; Beth, a comedy about a happily-agoraphobic man and his uneasy journey back to the outside world; and the satirical and politically provocative sketch comedy The Middle Passage. The projects join the previously announced series in development How to Rig an Election and NGO.
