CATF and Shepherd Announce Student Fanfare Winners

In collaboration with Shepherd University's School of Music, the Contemporary American Theater Festival announces the student winners of an exciting, creative effort to honor the Festival's 30th anniversary season. Students from the school's theory and composition program were invited to envision a musical fanfare to celebrate the professional theater's vibrant history and future.

Alley Cat Theater Presenting Staged Reading at CABINET OF CURIOSITIES

 Alley Cat Theater (www.alleycattheater.org) will present a staged reading of the script of its upcoming production, Plank, by John Greiner-Ferris and directed by Megan Schy Gleeson, on Wednesday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m. on the main stage of Charlestown Working Theater. The staged reading will be part of the three-week CABINET OF CURIOSITIES FESTIVAL being produced by Theatre on Fire and Charlestown Working Theater. The staged reading is free to the public. 
Bad Habit Productions to Open 10th Season with A MAN OF NO IMPORTANCE

BAD HABIT PRODUCTIONS, INC. (BHP) is pleased to commence its anniversary Season 10: No Life Aside from Art, with the witty, heartwarming musical A Man of No Importance, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, music by Stephen Flaherty, and book by Terrence McNally, directed by Boston area director Daniel Morris, with musical direction by Meghan MacFadden. A Man of No Importance will be presented on the Wimberly Stage at the Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts in the South End August 6-28, 2016.
Huntington Theatre Company's Annual Workshop Readings Set for 7/23-24

The Huntington Theatre Company's annual Summer Workshop will start rehearsals on July 12 and conclude in public readings of three new plays on July 23 and 24, 2016. The workshop allows selected members of the Huntington Playwriting Fellows program two weeks to focus on developing new plays. The workshop and public readings will take place in the South End at the Huntington's Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont Street, Boston.

CHEAPJACK SHAKESPEARE: THE NON-MUSICAL Breaks Records Opening Weekend

'Cheapjack Shakespeare: The Non-Musical', a stage comedy based on the webcomic by Shaun McLaughlin and produced by Gabriel Benson opened this weekend to record attendance. Opening night was the largest fall opening in the history of the Alt Theatre and subsequent nights have been sold out.
