Mirror Stage commissioned two Seattle-area playwrights to respond to the community-selected theme Incarceration. Presented in tandem as simply staged readings, The Assailant by Alma Davenport, and The Swimming Pool by Stacy D. Flood use the same multi-generational, multi-racial cast. A moderated discussion exploring the issues in more depth follows every performance.
Mirror Stage Announces First Show for the 2018-19 Season
On the heels of the successful 2017 debut of the Expand Upon staged reading series, Mirror Stage proudly announces Expand Upon: INCARCERATION as the first show of the 2018-2019 Season. For each new Expand Upon in the series, the community selects a theme, and Mirror Stage commissions two local playwrights to develop 30-60 minute plays, using the same multi-generational, multi-racial cast. For the second Expand Upon staged reading, the community chose the theme of Incarceration, and Mirror Stage commissioned The Assailant by Alma Davenport, and The Swimming Pool by Stacy D. Flood.
Broadway's Been Schooled! LATIN HISTORY FOR MORONS Recoups
The producers of John Leguizamo's LATIN HISTORY FOR MORONS, announced today that the one-man play has become the first play to recoup its capitalization this season. LATIN HISTORY FOR MORONS recouped in the first 15 weeks of its limited run at Broadway's Studio 54 (254 West 54th Street). The original 16-week engagement was extended an additional three weeks on opening night, November 15, 2017.
