Theatre Bay Area (TBA), the San Francisco Bay Area's theatre arts service organization, voted two new members onto its board of directors—Brenda Wong Aoki and Dawn Monique Williams. Both Aoki and Williams are originally from the Bay Area and are recognized nationally for their respective work.

HEDDA GABBLER at Pear Theatre this October
Pear Theatre continues its season with Henrik Ibsen's intense "Hedda Gabler," directed by Theatre Bay Area Deputy Director Dale Albright. "Hedda Gabler," starring Pear Artistic Director Betsy Kruse Craig in the title role, previews on October 11, with press and Opening Night on Friday, October 12 (followed by a champagne gala). In this juicy denunciation of the mainstream media machine, struggling writer Gamal hates the way his fellow Arab-Americans represent their culture on American media. It's easy enough to take out his frustration on literature superstar Mohsen and local mosque leader, Sheikh Alfani. But when his own girlfriend and novelist Noor gets an offer from a major publisher backed with a national media campaign, how will Gamal manage his frustration? Announcing the 2016 San Francisco Olympians Festival
This year the festival will debut 22 new plays by 23 local writers, 9 of whom will be contributing written work to the festival for the first time! The plays range from shorts to one-acts to full-lengths, and each one explores a different underworld legend or god from Greek or Egyptian mythology.
