Downtown Urban Arts Festival (DUAF), an annual multi-disciplinary arts event -- with cultural offerings in theater, film, music and poetry -- presented in various downtown Manhattan venues, kicked off on Saturday, April 8th with a sold-out concert from legendary chart-topper Lisa Lisa ("I Wonder If I Take You Home," "Can You Feel the Beat," "All Cried Out," "Head to Toe," "Lost in Emotion") at Joe's Pub at The Public.
Theater at DUAF Announces 2017 Finalists
THEATER at Downtown Urban Arts Festival (DUAF) has announced the finalists for its 15th Anniversary season to run at the Cherry Lane Theatre and Joe's Pub at The Public Theater during spring 2017. The finalists were selected from over 100 submissions from some of the nation's most talented emerging playwrights. THEATER is produced by Creative Ammo Inc. and Reg E. Gaines, two-time Tony nominee, returns as THEATER's Artistic Director.

This much-anticipated season will keep audiences on The Edge of their seats with theatrical works that effortlessly swing through urban landscapes ranging from Brooklyn, USA to the Ukraine to intimate stories about Oscar Wilde to hip hop alien abduction ... and much more. Now in its 11th year, the Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF) is becoming New York's premiere winter/spring theatre event showcasing independent theatre artists looking to bring their work to wider audiences while offering them the resources they require to succeed. The three-week festival, produced by Creative Ammo, Inc., rolls into HERE Mainstage in SoHo, NYC February 27 through March 16, 2013 with its unique brand of urban theater that provides writers from America's burgeoning multicultural landscape the opportunity to share their stories that interpret our history and our times.
Downtown Urban Theater Festival Announces Finalists for 2013 Season
Next year will mark the much-anticipated 11th annual season of the Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF) and from 120 submissions, DUTF has narrowed it down to 24 finalists. The decisions were extremely difficult due to the amazing plays received from gifted emerging writers who hail from across the U.S. and internationally from Canada, Israel and the United Kingdom.
