The Celebration of the Arts in Howard County, presented by Howard Bank, will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the Peter and Elizabeth Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center, Howard Community College, Columbia, MD. Mary Ann and Chuck Scully will act as Honorary Chairs for the evening. Joseph Ritsch, Producing Artistic Director for Rep Stage, will serve as Event Emcee.
BWW Review: SOUVENIR at Noce: A Show Worth Revisiting
Theatre companies always hope a show will do well, but every so often a show comes that exceeds their expectations, and eventually, they bring the show back. For Noce, known for bringing the best jazz artist to Des Moines, their show is a play ironically called a?oeSouvenira?? which is returning to the end of October. I missed it the first time the show was produced, and after seeing the show this weekend, this a?oeSouvenira?? was certainly worth taking another look at.
BWW Review: SOUVENIR at Rep Stage in Columbia - You'll Laugh Till It Hurts!
It was exactly ten years ago I first saw Stephen Temperley's SOUVENIR at Baltimore Center Stage which starred Tony Award winner, Judy Kaye. I could not imagine seeing a better version of it ever. But, I was wrong. The Rep Stage version is just plain spectacular and the two actors who perform here, Grace Bauer and Alan Naylor are just plain marvelous.

Florence Foster Jenkins - the 20th century performer who shocked with her confidence that she was a fantastic opera singer when she was absolutely not - was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. So, it only makes sense that Totem Pole Playhouse, just over two hours outside of the city would memorialize her with a production of the biographical musical play Souvenir.
