Birmingham Festival 23 Reveals Full Programme

Following the announcement of its opening event, newly titled One City, A Thousand Memories, Birmingham Festival 23 has announced the full programme of events for the 10 day festival which takes place from 28 July - 6 August in Centenary Square.

Following in the flightpath of two flight attendants, Tom Roden's new collaboration with Candoco Dance Company invites audiences to embark on a journey from laughter to tears, slipping seamlessly between the everyday and the poetic. Drawing on New Art Club Artistic Director Tom Roden's experience across art-forms as theatre-maker, comedian, choreographer and dancer, the playful and poignant work will visit festivals and outdoor areas for free performances across the country throughout the summer.

Audiences of over 52,000 enjoyed an impressive range of world-class dance performances and events at International Dance Festival Birmingham 2016 (IDFB 2016), up by over 50% in comparison to the previous festival in 2014. One of Europe's biggest and most diverse dance festivals, the fifth edition from 1-22 May, produced by DanceXchange in partnership with Birmingham Hippodrome, was a considerable success.

New Adventures & Re:Bourne are delighted to announce that Jamaal Burkmar is the winner of the 2015/16 New Adventures Choreographer Award (NACA). Nearly 100 applied for the award. Burkmar was shortlisted with six other emerging choreographers: Corey Baker, Tara D'Arquian, Alexandra Green, Eleesha Drennan, Andrew McNicol and Matt Nicholson. Burkmar was chosen after a weekend of intervigews, debate and deliberation chaired by Bourne and his team of distinguished judges:
