BIO

Cody’s is an actor, director, choreographer, educator/professor and artistic director (in no particular order). Proud member of AEA, SDC, NATS and MTEA where he is currently serving as regional director. Cody has taught and led musical theatre programs at WSU, SIUC, SDSU, and BYU. As an educator, he specializes in musical theatre teaching private voice, acting, dance and a variety of other musical theatre classes. He received his BFA in music dance theatre from Brigham Young University, and his MFA in Musical Theatre from San Diego State University.

Selected performance venues include: New York City Center Theatre, National Tour of 42nd Street, La Jolla Playhouse, Pioneer Theatre, Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, Tuacahn Amphitheatre, San Diego Musical Theatre, Fullerton Civic Light Opera, and Jackson Hole Playhouse.

Selected performance credits include: Billy Lawlor in 42nd Street – National Tour, Don Lockwood in Singin in the Rain, Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid, Munkastrap in Cats, Orin Scivello in Little Shop of Horrors, Frank Butler in Annie Get Your Gun, Danny Zuko in Grease, Bobby Child in Crazy for You, Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Fred Astaire in Backwards in High Heels, Joey Evans in Pal Joey, Henrik Egerman in A Little Night Music, Frankie in Forever Plaid, Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls, Ren McCormack in Footloose, Tommy Djilas in The Music Man, and Benjamin Pontipee in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

Cody has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Angela Lansbury, Bebe Neuwirth, Marvin Hamlisch, Chita Rivera, Ann Reinking, Randy Skinner, Sarah Rice, Anita Gillette and most recently, Lisa Brescia. New projects have included working with talents like Cheri Steinkellner, Georgia Stitt, Ryan Scott Oliver, and Pulitzer prize winning Doug Wright.

Selected director and choreographer credits include: We Foxes and A Funny Thing… Forum at WSU, Evita and Catch Me If You Can at Interlochen Center for the Arts, Big River and Legally Blonde at McLeod Summer Playhouse, The Addams Family and Curtains at SIUC.

Other professional theatrical work has included: producer and managing director – Jackson Hole Playhouse; Founder and Artistic Director – Triple Threat Performing Arts Academy; Artistic Director – Kre8ive Fine Arts Academy; Associate Artistic Director and Education Director – Artisan Center Theatre.

San Diego Musical Theatre "The Local Way to See Broadway" presents their first production of 2014, CATS, running two more weekends at the North Park Theatre throughApril 6, 2014. With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on the Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot, CATS tells the story, in song and dance, of the annual gathering of Jellicle cats at which time one special cat is selected to ascend to the Heaviside layer. A true musical theatre phenomenon, CATS opened at London's New London Theatre on May 11, 1981 and ran for a record-setting 21 years. CATS's London success was nearly matched on Broadway where it ran at the Wintergarden Theatre for just over 18 years.
