Playwrights Foundation Announces Spring Reading Series
Playwrights Foundation's 6th Rough Reading of the season will be Breakout Session (or Frogorse) by Nikkole Salter, directed by Beth Wood on Monday, March 11 at 7:30 PM, Roble Hall, Stanford University; and Tuesday, March 12 at 7:00PM.
Winners Named in Art Institutes Meal Through the Arts Culinary Showcase Competition
Hosted by actor Jaleel White, the event challenged 12 regional winners in the Meal Through the Arts competition to prepare their recipes for a live audience and a panel of celebrity chefs (to include Chef Ito Fuyuhiko, Chef Jamika Pessoa and Certified Master Chef Daryl Shular). These students competed in four categories: canapé, salad, entrée and dessert.
Dwayne Clark and David Hess Join Cast of MDR's Staged Reading TORN ASUNDER
Midtown Direct Rep (MDR) continues its 2016-17 staged reading series, Theater at The Woodland, with a presentation of TORN ASUNDER, written by Obie Award-winner Nikkole Salter and directed by Janeece Freeman Clark. This staged reading will be performed for one night only on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 7pm at The Woodland (60 Woodland Rd. Maplewood, NJ), where MDR is the resident theater company. Cleveland Public Theatre to Stage Regional Premiere of LINES IN THE DUST, 6/2-18
Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) has announced the regional premiere of Lines in the Dust by Nikkole Salter, directed by Beth Wood and featuring Kim Sias, Nicole Sumlin* and Skip Corris*. The show tackles the ripped-from-the-headlines issue of education inequality and tells the story of a mother committed to doing "whatever it takes" for her adolescent daughter to receive a quality education.
The New Black Fest Commissions Five Black Women Playwrights for UN-TAMED: HAIR BODY ATTITUDE This Fall
In the tradition of Facing Our Truth: Short Plays on Trayvon, Race and Privilege and HANDS UP: 6 Playwrights, 6 Testaments, The New Black Fest (guest curator playwright Dominique Morisseau) will commission five black women playwrights to write short plays entitled UN-TAMED: HAIR BODY ATTITUDE - Short Plays by Black Women. The playwrights include Cori Thomas, Nikkole Salter, Chisa Hutchinson, Lenelle Moise and Jocelyn Bioh.
