Photo Flash: School of American Ballet's 2014 Workshop Performance Benefit Raises Almost $860,000
The School of American Ballet's Workshop Performance Benefit 2014 on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 celebrated 50 years of these annual performances and raised nearly $860,000 for scholarships and school programs. The evening began with cocktails at 5:30pm in Juilliard's Morse Hall, followed by the presentation of the Mae L. Wien Award for Outstanding Service to Dena Abergel, SAB faculty member and NYCB Children's Ballet Master, and Wien Awards for Outstanding Promise to Lyrica Blankfein, Christopher Grant, Baily Jones, and Addie Tapp. Scroll down for photos from the event!
Neil Patrick Harris, Lance Horne, Justin Vivian Bond & More Set for PS122 Spring Gala, 5/12
Chaired by Michael Stipe and Justin Vivian Bond, PS122's Spring 2014 Gala will celebrate freedom of expression by honoring actor and performance artist John Fleck, performance artist and writer Holly Hughes, and performance artist Tim Miller-three of the four solo performers known collectively as the NEA 4. In addition, Clara Miller will receive the Shining Star Award, an award traditionally given to a non-artist who has greatly impacted the arts community of NYC. Miller founded the Nonprofit Finance Fund in 1980, which radically changed how non-profits think about their financial strategies.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company Receives $1,075,000 Grant
The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and Nonprofit Finance Fund have awarded Steppenwolf Theatre Company a $1,075,000 grant to create groundbreaking new programming aimed at engaging young artists - and enhance the theater's Visiting Companies Initiative. Steppenwolf and nine other performing arts organizations across the country are receiving grants as part of Leading for the Future: Innovative Support for Artistic Excellence, a landmark arts initiative to fund innovative projects that address sector-wide challenges such as shifting audiences, decreased funding sources, and new technologies.
