The show has become a cult comedy classic, delighting audiences not once but twice at the Edinburgh Festival, as well as the VAULT Festival and in its writer's homeland, with sellout performances in New York, San Francisco and LA. Actor and writer Byron Lane spoke with BroadwayWorld about the creation and subsequent success of the play, as well as his newly penned novel A Star Is Bored.

The play, adapted by Dale Wasserman from Ken Kesey's brilliant novel, made its Broadway debut in 1963 and has been revived multiple times, winning a Tony Award for Best Play Revival in 2001. The show features music by Teiji Ito.

The largest promotion of its kind kicks off on Black Friday, November 24, at Barnes & Noble stores nationwide, while supplies last. The autographed books span many genres and interests, and were signed by authors for Barnes & Noble customers.
City Lit Theater Hosts Celebration for 'Banned Books' Week
City Lit Theater Company, in association with the American Library Association's Office of Intellectual Freedom, will present BOOKS ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK, a celebration of BANNED BOOKS WEEK, September 24 - 30, 2017, at various locations in and around Chicago. Thanks to increased support from funding sources, the number of performances has been doubled for the 2017 festival over the 2016 schedule. All events are free to the public.

The Los Angeles Times today announced the lineup for the 22nd annual Festival of Books, the nation's largest literary festival, April 22-23 at the University of Southern California. The event will feature more than 500 authors, celebrities, musicians, artists and chefs. On Friday, April 21, the 37th annual Book Prizes will honor reading and educational activist Ruebén Martinez with the Innovator's Award, novelist Thomas McGuane with the Robert Kirsch Award for lifetime achievement, and 11 outstanding literary works published during the last year.

Blackstone Audio has acquired Audio Editions of Auburn, California. While Audio Editions will remain fully operational as is in Auburn, retaining its current staff, Blackstone is dedicated to preserving and growing the brand, giving it a boost with the aid of Blackstone's resources. Blackstone plans to update Audio Editions' website and offer digital downloads to patrons.

Breaking News: Director David Fincher to Bring FIGHT CLUB Rock Opera to the Stage
It's technically against the rules, but we're going to talk about FIGHT CLUB -- and this time, it's official. Mashable reports Chuck Palahniuk's long-gestating idea for a FIGHT CLUB musical will take the form of a rock opera based on the novel, directed by the 1999 film's helmer David Fincher. The end goal is Broadway, of course.
