Review: Bandhouse Gigs 20th Anniversary Tribute to DC Legends at Strathmore
Bandhouse Gigs, an outfit that assembles top local musicians to honor a variety of artists from Bob Dylan to the Stones, began its life outdoors at the Strathmore, honoring Nils Lofgren. For a big event Saturday with the full title “Strathmore Presents A BandHouse Gigs 20th Anniversary Tribute to DC Legends,” an attempt was made to honor no less than 24 acts over three and a half hours, involving, by one count, 75 different musicians.

World-famous guitar-maker Paul Reed Smith and his band, Eightlock, are set to release their new CD, 'Lions Roaring in Quicksand,' on December 1st. The album showcases their unique blend of blues, soul, rock, funk, and other roots sounds, with a lineup featuring three drummers, a bass player, a female singer, and three guitar players.

After two outstanding releases on Wonderwheel Recordings (2018's '5 Star Motel' LP, and 2019's 'Saint Claude Dash / Chicha Nola' 7'), Gitkin is back with a new EP, along with two remixes from Pimps Of Joytime. 'De La' - which features NYC-based singer Carol C - was inspired by the Saharan Tuareg sound, while also embracing Carl C's Afro-Dominican roots with a beautiful melody and Spanish lyrics.
