Good Theater to Stage Maine Premiere of SHEAR MADNESS
SHEAR MADNESS, the longest running play in the United States, makes it Maine debut this winter presented by Good Theater. The show opens January 27 and runs for eight weeks through March 20, at the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress Street, Portland. Good Theater is the professional theater company in residence at the St. Lawrence.

Huntington Theatre Company playwright-in-residence Melinda Lopez collaborates with Director M. Bevin O'Gara to bring BECOMING CUBA to the Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts. Rich in historical content, the play is set in Havana in 1897 in the midst of the Cuban War of Independence (Spanish-American War), and features beautiful writing, fully-realized characters, and evocative design elements.

Written by Theresa Rebeck, creator of the TV show Smash, Seminar is a contemporary comedy which tells the story of four young writers who hire a world-famous novelist to teach a seminar. When tempers, egos and libidos flare, these students end up getting the schooling of their lives. 'Theresa Rebeck is one of the main reasons we are doing this show. She's a wonderfully talented and very funny writer,' Symes added. 'I couldn't pass up the opportunity to produce her newest play.'

The Huntington Theatre Company brings Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize-winning Our Town home to Boston on its 75th anniversary in a landmark staging by Obie Award winner David Cromer (Tribes, Adding Machine). The remount of the acclaimed New York production that features a homegrown cast will inaugurate the Huntington's use of the intimate, 250-seat Roberts Studio Theatre in the Huntington's Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA.
