Mill Mountain Theatre has begun rehearsals for their upcoming holiday show, The Sound of Music,a?? running December 4th - 22nd on the Trinkle MainStage. The cast is led by Roanoke's own Emma Gwin (Maria), Broadway's Timothy Booth* (Captain Georg von Trapp), and Mary Grace Gordon* (Mother Abbess). Two casts of talented local youth play the VonTrapp children on alternating performances.

Mill Mountain Theatre will continue its 2018 Young Audiences season with Robert & Willie Reale's musical A Year With Frog And Toad - TYA Version, which will open on June 2 at 10am at Heights Community Church and tour around the region offering free performances.

An Equity Theatre's program to encourage young playwrights culminates in staged productions of the winning scripts. Mill Mountain Theatre Conservatory proudly presents Write Stuff! for it's 2nd Annual Festival.
Mill Mountain Theatre Conservatory, the onsite, pre-professional training program at Roanoke's Equity Theatre, is hosting their second annual festival of new works penned by local students. The playwriting contest was open to Middle School and High School playwrights, with the winning three being produced as staged-readings.
The chosen plays this year are by all female playwrights: Job Switch by Mikayla Parker, Little Sacrifices by Caroline Moledor, and Auditions by Caroline Westphalen.
The festival of staged-readings will be this Saturday, February 10, 2018 on the Waldron Stage. Mill Mountain Theatre Conservatory students and local talent will act in the plays directed by Mill Mountain Theatre staff.

The 'Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival' has been around for 42 years, and during that time over 500 theatre companies and schools have participated. Applicants have included companies from across the country as well as abroad from Canada, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. 'Singularity' by playwright Alex Flanigan will be performing on the festival's first day, August 8th at 6:30 pm.

You don't always need a fairy godmother for your dreams to come true. Nineteen-year-old Emily Bautista was lucky enough to have extremely supportive parents and a boatload of talent instead. The thankful and humble young woman is now performing eight times a week in the Broadway revival of “Miss Saigon” as an ensemble member and understudies the lead: Kim. Emily and I actually went to high school together at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts for Musical Theatre, and I was floored and overjoyed to see that she had been cast in the production. Bautista took some time in between shows of the Tony-nominated production to chat with me about her experience landing her first Broadway show.

The Gay Men's Chorus of Washington, DC's LGBT themed production of the classic musical 'How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying' will premiere at the Lincoln Theatre in DC on March 10, 11 & 12, 2017 at located at 1215 U Street NW. This is the first LGBT production of 'How To Succeed' to date. Famous songs like 'I Believe in You,' 'Happy to Keep His Dinner Warm' and 'Brotherhood of Man.' all appear in their original composition, just with a little more glitter!
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying tells the story of J. Pierrepont Finch and his rise to the top of the corporate ladder with the aid of a simple self-help book. Along the way, he learns how to find your name on the executive door and win the secretary's heart quicker than you can say "nepotism." I had an absolutely wonderful conversation with the show's director and the organization's artistic director Thea Kano about her background and why this production is so important.
