Christine Lyons has been praised as “especially moving” (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette) and as a “sparkling soprano” (Broad Street Review) who captivates with fearless presence. Upcoming engagements include Donna Anna in Don Giovanni with Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos with Berkshire Opera Festival and Micaëla in Carmen with Opera Ithaca.

Highlights from previous operatic seasons include Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Konstanze in Mozart’s Die Entführung at Symphony Space and at the Modell Lyric Opera House, Manon in Massenet’s Manon at the Liederkranz Foundation and Carnegie Hall, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte at Sant’Anna dei Lombardi in Italy and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at Lincoln Center.

Highlights from previous theatrical seasons include Alice’s Daughter in Big River with Goodspeed Opera House, GiGi in Miss Saigon with Pittsburgh Music Theater, Ensemble/Narrator Cover in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with Theater of the Stars, Ensemble in All Shook Up with Merry-Go-Round Playhouse and Barons Asst./Ensemble in Ragtime with Portland Center Stage.

Ms. Lyons has garnered top awards in several opera competitions including Opera Columbus’ Cooper-Bing International Competition, New York Lyric Opera Theater National Vocal Competition, Vocal Arts DC Art Song Discovery Competition and Washington International Competition. As well, she has earned Finalist recognition in the Edward M. Murray Competition and Semi-Finalist recognition in the Alfredo Silipigni Competition and PARTNERS for the Arts Competition. She is an alumna of Carnegie Mellon University and the Peabody Institute.

Teatro Nuovo, the new organization led by Will Crutchfield, is proud to announce its inaugural Bel Canto Festival at Purchase College, The Dawn of Romantic Opera, July 28-August 5 2018, in collaboration with The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College. The Festival will present semi-staged productions of Rossini's Tancredi, Mayr's Medea in Corinto, two operas premiered in 1813; one by a mature master and the other by a budding genius, both pointing the way for opera's Romantic century. The Festival will also include a second version of the Rossini score, Tancredi rifatto, incorporating extensive music that the composer wrote for later revivals. Teatro Nuovo will also introduce a radical new adventure with early 19th-century performing style and period orchestral instruments.
