BIO

Christine Farrell* is an actress, playwright, and director. Selected theatre credits include Uncle Vanya, Comedy of Errors, and countless new works. TV/Film: “Law & Order”, The Ice Storm, Fatal Attraction. Directing: Hunger by Amy Herzog and War by Bill Bozzone. Her short plays include The Once Attractive Woman, For the Love of a Saint (EST Marathon); Our Half of the Sky; Mama Drama (EST, Cleveland Playhouse). She is an EST Playwrights Unit Member, and a recipient of an NEA Affiliate Artist grant, a MacDowell Colony fellowship, and a Mellon grant. Currently, Christine teaches at Sarah Lawrence College, where she served as Artistic Director of the theatre program from 2010-19. Proud member of EST.

SMART Opens at Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater Next Month

The 2024 Season at Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater will open with Smart, by Mary Elizabeth Hamilton, directed by Jess Chayes. Performances run Thursdays through Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m., June 8-23, 2024.

Ensemble Studio Theatre and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation announced that Mary Elizabeth Hamilton’s new play Smart has been extended to Sunday, April 30. There will also be a post-show panel discussion following the April 22 matinee performance.

Ensemble Studio Theatre (Estefanía Fadul and Graeme Gillis, Co-Artistic Directors) and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation (Doron Weber, Vice President and Program Director) will begin performances for Mary Elizabeth Hamilton’s new play SMART on Thursday, March 30. Directed by EST Member Matt Dickson, SMART will run to April 23 with an official press opening on Thursday, April 6 at 545 West 52nd Street.

America-in-Play presents the premiere of A Time-Traveler's Trip to Niagra, Following the Bold Adventures and Strange Detours of an Unlikely Group of Travelers Across Time and America. Running through May 18 at the Hudson Guild Theatre (441 West 26th Street), this unique comedy interweaves two journeys up the Hudson River: one by bus in 2014 and one by steamboat in 1828. From upper class Brits taking a tour of the Early Republic to a modern brother and sister taking a bus ride upstate to trace their roots, the two trips converge at the iconic and spectacular Niagara Falls and aim to investigate the relationship between the American landscape and identity while exploring ties between past and future.
