The nonprofit Oscar Hammerstein Museum and Theatre Education Center (OHMTEC) has been awarded $500,000 in Pennsylvania state funding through the Redevelopment Assistance Capitol Program (RACP).

Will Hammerstein, grandson of musical theatre legend Oscar Hammerstein II, has every intention of preserving his grandfather's legacy. In 1941, the lyricist purchased Highland Farm, a sweeping property outside of Philadelphia. Now his grandson seeks to purchase the house and accompanying barn and renovate them into a Hammerstein museum.

The Republic reported today a proposal for a tourist attraction based around Oscar Hammerstein's former Philidelphia home. Despite the efforts of his grandson, however, the plan was not well-received by public officials.
