Portland Opera Presents The U.S. Premiere Of WHEN THE SUN COMES OUT

Portland Opera will begin 2022 with performances of the 2013 opera When the Sun Comes Out, composed by Leslie Uyeda with a libretto by the poet Rachel Rose. This piece, originally commissioned by the Vancouver Queer Arts Festival, is set in a place and time where gender expression is oppressed by the state and being gay is a death sentence. It is here that Solana finds her lost love Lilah, who is now a wife and mother.
Portland Opera Presents AN AMERICAN QUARTET: Four One-Act Operas

Portland Opera continues the 2019/20 season with the premiere of a new production entitled An American Quartet: Four One-Act Operas. Each of these pieces, written by American composers, will be presented in the intimate black box theatre at Portland Opera's Hampton Opera Center.
Portland Opera To Go Presents LA BOHEME

Portland Opera is thrilled to present a 50-minute version of Puccini's La Bohème as the 2019 Portland Opera to Go production. This accessible and romantic Puccini opera concerns the fortunes of four young men, whose lives are changed forever when one of them, the poet Rodolfo, falls in love with the girl upstairs. For almost 20 years, Portland Opera to Go has travelled throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington presenting an opera adaptation targeted to students. Beginning on September 25, POGO will present nearly 50 performances, in venues including school gyms, libraries, cafeterias, classrooms and community centers.
PURE CONFIDENCE Races Into 59E59 Theaters For The Americas Off Broadway Festival, Previews Begin 5/22

59E59 Theaters (Elysabeth Kleinhans, Artistic Director; Peter Tear, Executive Producer) is thrilled to welcome Tony Award-nominee Marion McClinton and Carlyle Brown, one of this country?s most prolific playwrights, to 59E59 Theaters and Americas Off Broadway. The NYC premiere of Mr. Brown?s playPure Confidence, directed by Mr. McClinton and from Minneapolis? Mixed Blood Theatre, begins previews on Friday, May 22 for a limited engagement through Friday, July 3. Opening Night is Wednesday, May 27 at 8 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday at 7:00 PM, Wednesday ? Friday at 8:00 PM; Saturday at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM; Sunday at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM. There is an added matinee performance on Wednesday, July 1 at 2 PM. The regular ticket price is $45 ($31.50 for 59E59 Members). A 5-StarCard (one ticket to each show in the festival) is available for $100 ($85 for 59E59 Members).
