BIO
Christina Applegate is a highly respected actress and dancer who has achieved great success in both film and television. She was born on November 25, 1971, in Hollywood, California, to parents Robert Applegate and Nancy Priddy. Her mother was also an actress and singer, which may have influenced Christina's career aspirations from a young age.
Christina began her acting career at the age of five, starring in several commercials. She made her Broadway debut at the age of 10, playing the role of the young dancer in the 1981 production of "Annie." Her performance was highly praised, and it marked the beginning of a successful career in both theater and film.
After her Broadway debut, Christina continued to work in theater, appearing in productions of "The Sound of Music" and "Brigadoon." She also made her film debut in 1981, appearing in the comedy "Jaws of Satan." However, it was her role as Kelly Bundy on the hit television series "Married... with Children" that made her a household name.
"Married... with Children" ran for 11 seasons, from 1987 to 1997, and Christina's performance as the promiscuous and often clueless Kelly Bundy was a standout. The show was controversial at the time for its raunchy humor and depiction of a dysfunctional family, but it was also a huge success and helped launch Christina's career.
After "Married... with Children" ended, Christina continued to work in television, starring in the short-lived series "Jesse" and "Samantha Who?" She also appeared in several films, including "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead," "The Sweetest Thing," and "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy."
In 2005, Christina returned to Broadway, starring in the revival of "Sweet Charity." Her performance as Charity Hope Valentine was widely praised, and she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. She also won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical.
In recent years, Christina has continued to work in both film and television, appearing in the hit comedy "Bad Moms" and its sequel, "Bad Moms Christmas." She has also starred in the Netflix series "Dead to Me," for which she received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
Outside of her acting work, Christina is also a breast cancer survivor.
