Christian Lolo Moreno is an active percussionist and drum-set artist, specializing in orchestral, commercial & theatrical music. As a freelance performer, Christian has played with the Chicago Philharmonic Society, Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Northwest Indiana Symphony, The Marriott Theatre, Music Theatre Works, Porchlight Theatre, Peacherine Ragtime Society, Braeburn Brass Quintet, Chicago Composers Orchestra, Kenosha Symphony, Bohemian Theatre Ensemble, Metropolis and Second City, to name a select few. In 2022, he was invited to hold the keyboard III book on the national broadway tour of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, traveling to over 65 cities across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
From 2017-2019, he gigged extensively across the U.S with tribute acts, Close to You: The Music of the Carpenters & A Carpenters Christmas. Mr. Moreno has completed seasonal contracts for several summer stock theatres, including The Timberlake Playhouse and Rocky Mountain Repertory, and has also collaborated on numerous productions with the theatre departments of Northwestern University, Columbia College and Roosevelt University. He is a frequent call for some of the top jobbing bands working across the midwest, including The Bluewater Kings, and has backed a number of local independent artists, worship groups & pickup orchestras.
As an educator, Christian is a regular guest instructor at the People's Music School and maintains his own private studio. He has previously held teaching positions with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, The Ravinia Festival (Sistema Ravinia), Schaumburg High School, and Cook County Jail's MHTC program, among many others. Additionally, he has presented percussion demonstrations for various solo & ensemble festivals within the NW suburbs.
Christian is a graduate of the DePaul University School of Music, where he primarily studied with Ian Ding (Assistant Principal Percussionist of the Detroit Symphony, 2003-2011), as well as top-call freelancers Michael Kozakis & Bob Rummage. During his studies, he also served as an intern/concert logistics worker for the grammy-award winning chamber ensemble, Third Coast Percussion, and participated in masterclasses with Cynthia Yeh and David Herbert of the Chicago Symphony.
