Sherman Players To Present PERSONALITY CONFLICTS By Dean Alexander in June

SHERMAN, CONN. On Friday June 2, The Sherman Players will open PERSONALITY CONFLICTS, written and directed by Dean Alexander.

Sherman Players' Opens CARRIE: THE MUSICAL Next Week

On Friday, September 30, The Sherman Playhouse will open its third production for the 2022 season, CARRIE: THE MUSICAL, directed by Bradford Blake (2021's WRECK THE HALLS and 2019's CABARET) with music direction by Charles Smith. Produced by Al Chiappetta, the curtain rises at 8:00 p.m. for a four week run.
Sherman Players Open Anthony Shaffer's WHODUNNIT This Weekend

On Friday, April 29, The Sherman Players will open Anthony Shaffer's comedy-thriller, WHODUNNIT as its first mainstage show for 2022. The curtain rises at 8:00 p.m. for a four week run.
New Film Series at Japan Society to Hold Screenings from May 13th through June 3rd

Japan Society presents Part of the Okinawa in Focus series and the Globus Film Series, Visions of Okinawa: Cinematic Reflections. The screenings of these films are set for May 13th through June 3rd. In-theater screenings are set for May 13th through May 21st. Virtual screenings will run from May 14th through June 3rd. The films will be available to stream in North America or globally. For details, see the individual titles of the films below. 
Anthony Shaffer's Comedy-thriller WHODUNNIT Opens The Sherman Players 2022 Mainstage Season

On Friday April 29th, the Sherman Playhouse will open the 2022 mainstage season with WHODUNNIT, a comedy-thriller written by Anthony Shaffer, directed by Alexis M. Vournazos of Danbury.
CIRCUS BOY Documentary Sets Streaming Release Date

The same-sex parenting documentary follows a gay man named Thomas who seeks reconciliation with his mother after he and his husband, Michael, adopt a boy he's training for circus school. Challenging our social norms, the film embraces inclusion as we see how some can work out their problems through circus arts and acceptance. Watch the trailer now!
The Sherman Playhouse Presents JACK AND THE BEANSTALK A VERY BRITISH PANTO

The Sherman Playhouse will be performing Jack and the Beanstalk A Very British Panto starting December 6 just in time for the holidays. This Traditional British Panto returns to Sherman! Oh yes it does! Jack and the Beanstalk is one of the UK's favorite pantos, filled with spectacle, songs and good family fun. Falling on hard times good-hearted dreamer Jack is sent by his mother, Dame Trott to market to sell his faithful, sweet-natured cow Daisy. Meanwhile Fleshcreep, the Giant's wicked henchman is sent to terrorize the kingdom and kidnap the Princess, stealing her away to his master's castle in the clouds. Why does Jack exchange Daisy for a bag of magic beans? Will the Princess be rescued from Fleshcreep's evil clutches? Can the Giant be defeated and the kingdom freed? Find out as Jack climbs the beanstalk to adventure aided by his silly brother, a good fairy and a bumbling King with his dimwitted guards! There'll be music, dancing, magic, thrills, spills and jokes coming thick and fast! Fun for all the family where the audience is definitely encouraged to join in the silliness!

Anticipating the 2020 Summer Games, when the eyes of the world will once again fall upon Japan's dynamic capital, Tokyo Stories: Japan in the Global Imagination considers the ways Japan—and the elusive concept of “Japaneseness” —is rendered and interpreted outside its borders with a revealing selection of Tokyo-set films by foreign directors, including Japanese co-productions, Hollywood blockbusters, and European arthouse favorites.

Martin Brandlmayr Announces New Album 'Vive Les Fantomes'

Radian percussionist and composer Martin Brandlmayr has announced the release of his new album Vive Les Fantômes, out on June 14th. The radio play was created for German station SWR and awarded The Karl Sczuka Prize for Works of Radio Art, an honor previously given to the likes of John Cage, Luc Ferriari, Hanna Hartman, and Pierre Henry.

THE GRADUATE Comes to The Sherman Playhouse

The Sherman Playhouse will be producing The Graduate as their Spring production. The production is directed by Susan Abrams of New Milford. Her past credits as director include The Guys and Enchanted April at the Playhouse, Talk Radio at Theatreworks New Milford and Female Transport at Phoenix Stage.

Glimmerglass Film Days Announces Films For Sixth Annual Festival November 8-12

Glimmerglass Film Days will explore the theme “Passages” in Cooperstown November 8-12.  A program of Otsego 2000, Film Days features 32 films, 26 filmmakers and special guests, panels, receptions with local food and drink, a companion art exhibit, a pop-up bookstore, a free film for kids, and guided hikes.
