Prospect Theater Company Announces Commissions for VISION Series
Prospect Theater Company has announced the full lineup for their fall season with the VISION Series of original music-theater on film. The Fall 2020 series will feature six original short works from a variety of artists, including four pieces filmed on location during a September residency at the Goodwill Theatre.
James Duke Walker Leads The Cast Of Controversial Cop Drama SPLIT SECOND At New Vibe Lounge
James Duke Walker, who won a string of acting awards for his film debut in the independent short thriller Roadside Assistance, will play the leading role of NYPD police office Val Johnson in the staged reading production of Dennis McIntyre's controversial police drama Split Second which comes to the New Vibe Lounge, Rockville Centre on Sunday November 17 at 7pm.
The Academy Invites 842 To Membership; 50% Are Women
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to 842 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. The 2019 class is 50% women, 29% people of color, and represents 59 countries. Those who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the Academy's membership in 2019.

The story revolves around two young sisters infiltrate an underground bar catering to jazz-loving Nazis who find an escape in the music they are meant to forbid. One SS Lieutenant in particular welcomes a sweet romance, though the sisters have been tasked to seduce him to a darker fate. The nearby woods await revenge as music, dancing, boozing and secrets weave together to unlock this wild tale of youthful resistance.

Theatre 4the People (NYIT Award for Outstanding Production of a New Play for In Vestments) will present Erika Phoebus' KISS IT, MAKE IT BETTER, directed by Isaac Byrne (The Other Mozart) at The New Ohio (154 Christopher Street, between Greenwich and Washington, 10014), May 28-June 18 with performances Thursday through Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 5pm with additional performances on Saturday, June 11 & 18 at 3pm and Monday, May 30 and Wednesday, June 1 at 7:30pm.
