Dizzy Gillespie famously said that jazz must have 'one foot in the past and one in the future.' With the Wolff & Clark Expedition, the music embraces the past, ventures into the future, but remains rooted in the improvisatory present. After several high profile performances in 2012, jazz legends Michael Wolff and Mike Clark, the Wolff & Clark Expedition, release their self-titled debut album today. Performing with creative bassist Chip Jackson, the Expedition's initial outing aims for uncharted, compelling musical territories while still entertaining a wide audience of astute listeners.

Last night, October 9, The Iriduim Jazz Club welcomed Nicholas King, winner of the 2010 Julie Wilson Award and the 2012 Bistro Award for Outstanding Performer. King voiced the character of "Oscar" in Discovery Kids' "Kenny The Shark", and has opened for his mentor Liza Minnelli across the US since 2006.

On Tuesday night at the Iridium Jazz Club, precocious, yet polished 20-year-old crooner Nicolas King conquered a packed room filled with freshly-minted MAC Award winners, veteran cabaret performers, a burgeoning legion of fans, beaming family members, and his mentor and friend Liza Minnelli (who attended the show with actor Tony Danza).

Mike Renzi looked over his eyeglasses at the elite audience at don't tell mamas, nodded to bassist Chip Jackson and drummer Ray Marchica and then opened the starting gate to a highly charged and expertly crafted 75 minutes of Nicolas King displaying his awesome vocal proficiency.

Piano legend Mike Renzi, who has arranged and played for the best, Peggy Lee, Lena Horne, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Mel Torme' (to name a few) has a sensational young singer he's working with. Dr. Taylor, who has spent his entire life as a musician, composer, writer, educator, broadcaster and Jazz advocate, remains active as he plots his course for year 90.
