It was announced today Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon-a beloved San Francisco institution and the longest running musical revue in the world-will give its final performances on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 (New Year's Eve). Upon its closing, the show will have played a record-breaking 17,216 performances.

SAN FRANCISCO (July 11, 2016) - In recognition of internationally renowned singer, painter and civic leader Tony Bennett's contributions to San Francisco, the City will honor him with several tributes celebrating his 90th birthday. The festivities will begin with a free, public dedication and unveiling of the 8-foot-tall bronze statue of Mr. Bennett atop Nob Hill on the lawn of Fairmont San Francisco on Friday, August 19 at noon; festivities start at 11:30 a.m. Friday evening, the World Champion San Francisco Giants will pay tribute to the legend with "Tony Bennett Night" as they take on the New York Mets. The weekend's events culminate on Saturday, August 20 with a benefit dinner and concert in Fairmont San Francisco's famous Venetian Room where he first performed I Left My Heart in San Francisco in public. Proceeds from the evening will support The Tony Bennett Fund for Emergency Pediatric Care at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and the San Francisco Special Events Committee. Producer Jo Schuman Silver announced today that Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon will commemorate its 40th anniversary with a special public celebration to take place at San Francisco's City Hall today, June 6, 2014 at 12 p.m. City and civic leaders will join the cast of Beach Blanket Babylon as The City of San Francisco salutes the world's longest-running musical revue in an event open to the public. This 'only in San Francisco' event will feature Mayor Ed Lee, Chief of Protocol Charlotte Shultz, former Mayor Willie L. Brown Jr., Ann Getty, Dede Wilsey, San Francisco Symphony Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus. Other dignitaries will be announced at a later date.
Hats Off to 40 Years of Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon Set for this Summer
Today, Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon Producer Jo Schuman Silver announced Hats Off to 40 Years of Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon, a self-guided tour featuring iconic hats from the past 40 years running in May through June. With more than 20 hats being exhibited throughout the Bay Area, this is the first time in the show's history that this many hats have been displayed at one time. At 15 feet wide, 10 feet deep and 29 feet tall, visitors to Davies Symphony Hall can see the iconic Silver San Francisco Skyline Hat. Other hats include the World Hat and the Washington Hat at the de Young Museum, as well as the original Banana Carmen Hat at the SFJAZZ Center.
