BMI Announces The 2021 Trailblazers of Gospel Awards
In addition to the major award winners, BMI also paid homage to the 20 Most Performed Gospel Songs of the Year (2020). This year’s talented group of songwriters includes 19 first-time Trailblazer Award winners including Zacardi Cortez, Cydel C. Young, Renee Spearman, Terrence “Pusha T” Thorton, Natalie Lauren Simms, & Allison Jeffrey LaValley.

Mayor Emanuel and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events are thrilled to announce hip-hop star Desiigner (“Panda”) as the headliner for YAS! Fest, the youth arts showcase for the Year of Creative Youth presented by Allstate Insurance Company on Saturday, September 22 from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Opening for Desiigner's mainstage performance is 19-year-old breakout artist Ravyn Lenae, a graduate of Chicago High School for the Arts, fresh off her performance at Pitchfork Music Festival last month.

Growing up, author William Abrams was fascinated by two things-disasters and bridges. He found the perfect subject for his first novel in Scotland's Tay Bridge, a two-mile railroad viaduct that collapsed while carrying a crowded passenger train in 1879. At the time, the Tay was the longest bridge in the world. Its failure only 14 months after completion was front-page news around the world and, prior to the sinking of the Titanic, the most infamous technological disaster in British History.
