BWW Review: MAMMA MIA at New Theatre Restaurant
Donna Sheridan (Shanna Jones) was the lead singer in one of the early female power trios, 'Donna and the Dynamos,' back in the summers of love period in the late 1960s. She found the love of her life, Sam Carmichael (John Franklin), and lost him to a previous personal commitment while Donna and her crew performed among the Greek Islands in the Mediterranean Sea. That summer Donna had two rebound relationships with other men. All three relationships were documented in her diary. Donna became pregnant by whom Donna is not sure.
Spinning Tree Theatre Announces Guild Scholarship
Spinning Tree Theatre proudly announces the inaugural Spinning Tree Theatre Guild Scholarship, sponsored by the Guild and administered by the Artistic Committee. In keeping with the mission of educational development in the live theatre arts, Spinning Tree has created this scholarship fund to assist area high school seniors in pursuing higher education. The inaugural 2017 award is a one-time $1,000 scholarship.

In his autobiography, which was serialized in Wide World magazine, Englishman de Rougemont described his incredible thirty-year adventure lost in the vast, unexplored Australian outback. He sailed the high seas and met exotic islanders, flying wombats, giant sea turtles and an enormous man-eating octopus. Or did he? This "vaudevillian romp with radio theatre overtones" (Los Angeles Times) "springs to life like a theatrical pop-up book" (The New York Times).

It's midnight in March of 1959 at a seedy bar in Philadelphia. The audience is about to witness one of Billie Holiday's final appearances, just four months before her death. In between funny and heartbreaking stories about her life and career, "Lady Day" sings her most beloved songs including "What a Little Moonlight Can Do," "Crazy He Calls Me," "God Bless the Child" and "Strange Fruit."

Our Town opened the 50th season of the Kansas City Repertory Theatre on Friday September 12 at the Spencer Theater located on the campus of the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Thornton Wilder wrote the 1938 classic and winner of the 1938 Pulitzer Prize for Drama that has weathered time to remain one of the most popular plays of all time.
