REDCAT Announces Fall 2018 Calendar Of Premieres
REDCAT, CalArts' downtown center for contemporary arts, announces adventurous international and LA performances featured in the ambitious new Fall 2018 season at REDCAT, including stunning stagecraft and object theater from Rotterdam, the world premiere of a new dance and video work by LA company David Rousseve/Reality, a slyly funny and poignant collaboration by German/British collective Gob Squad with six LA performers, a hilarious political musical-theater project by art collective My Barbarian, and the return of Christiane Jatahy with a Brazilian take on Chekhov's Three Sisters, which uses genius film techniques.
Powerful Week Starts Tonight At The Downtown Urban Arts Festival
Taking NYC by storm, the sweet 16th annual Downtown Urban Arts Festival (DUAF) opened with a bang with WE MCDONALD at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater followed by sold-out showings of 'The Vast Mystery Of Who You Are: Part One' by Kim Yaged and 'Gay.Porn.Mafia' by Joe Gulla. This week, the festival moves to THEATRE 80 ST. MARKS, 80 ST MARKS PLACE, NEW YORK CITY with an array of new and exciting works written by cutting-edge authors including Anghus Houvouras, J.E. Robinson, Rollin Jewett, and Daniel Damiano.
FRESH FRUIT At 15: the Anniversary Season
Established in 1991, All Out Arts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit devoted to bringing together the diverse artistic, organizational, political and financial resources of the LGBTQ community in order to fight intolerance. All Out Arts fulfills its mission by supporting arts organizations within the community through fiscal sponsorship, events, contests, collaborations, networking events for emerging artists, and by sponsoring productions, concerts and exhibitions of visual arts. We confront homophobia through the humanizing influence of the arts, and the Fresh Fruit Festival is the primary expression of the All Out Arts mission.
STRINGS to Premiere 12/19 at Shetler Studios and Theatres
Director and playwright Charles Curtis, will premiere Curtis' newest stage play, Strings on December 19, 2014, at the Shetler Studios and Theatres, 244 West 54th Street, Manhattan. Strings follows one man's road to execution, and hopefully, another toward redemption. With a few hours before Man's hearing and execution, the only person that wants Man to live is his brand new lawyer, Derek. While Derek prepares to defend a man he just met, for a trial they each find that they some things are inescapable.

Comics are sometimes called 'sequential art' - stories that unfold across time over the course of multiple images. This definition also applies to the art of theater - and with so much in common, it makes sense that the two should team up. After a successful first installment in 2011, the Comic Book Theater Festival is coming back to The Brick for 'Issue #2' in June 2014. Get ready for a new crop of shows that explore the intersection of the panel and the stage, the live and the drawn, the ink and the actor.
