Plays, Directors And Cast Of Staged Readings Announced For ARTEMISIA FALL FESTIVAL
Six directors and 30 actors from the Chicago theatre community will collaborate to create staged readings of six new feminist plays in the Artemisia Fall Festival 2018, to be performed September 24-26 and October 1-3 at The Edge Theater at 5451 N. Broadway. Artemisia Founding Artistic Director Julie Proudfoot and Literary Manager Sharai Bohannon have curated the festival from submissions solicited from writers, agents and literary managers across the US with whom the company has had working professional relationships. One play from the six to be performed will be chosen for further development by Artemisia Artistic Director Proudfoot, who will work closely with the playwright over the next two years to develop their feminist story for a full production in Chicago.

Artistic Director of The Blind Owl, Azar Kazemi, directs this U.S. Premiere. dirty butterfly runs now through December 10, 2016 at Halcyon Theatre (press opening Nov. 10), located in residence at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3253 W. Wilson Avenue, on Chicago's north side.

Gorilla Tango Theatre Company to Present MALEFACTIONS
Choices, Background, Diversity, Social Injustices and Female Strength are all explored with the Midwest premiere of new play Malefactions, by New York playwright Matt Minnicino. The show will open on October 20th at 7pm at Gorilla Tango Theatre Company 1919 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago 60647. Performances will be October 20, 21, 26, 27 at 7pm and October 22 and 30 at pm. For the past two seasons, including the 20th Anniversary production in 2012, Profiles revisited Kern's landmark play for the holiday season. Both productions recevied extended runs and played for over three months. First produced as a late-night show by Famous Door Theatre in 1992, Hellcab was originally scheduled for twelve performances. It ended up running for over nine years, becoming one of the longest running shows in Chicago theatre history. Richard Cotovsky played the Driver for nearly 18 months including return engagements logging in well over two hundred performances to make him one of the longest performing actors to play the Driver during its premiere. Hellcab has been performed all over the U.S. and abroad, including Scotland, Israel, Singapore, and Ireland, winning numerous awards, including a Fringe First at the Edinburgh Festival.
