Furnace Fest has announced their final headlining act, Sunny Day Real Estate. The performance on Saturday, September 24th, marks one of the first US show the band has played since 2010. Fans will also be able to catch acts like Manchester Orchestra, Cursive, Elliott (performing False Cathedrals), Blindside (performing Silence), Pedro The Lion (performing Control), and many others on Saturday. OWN announced today new unscripted series that will join the network's successful Saturday night lineup: “Chad Loves Michelle,” “Family or Fiancé” and “Rocket City Revival” (working title). “Chad Loves Michelle” featuring Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child and Pastor Chad Johnson navigating the road from engagement to marriage will premiere Saturday, November 3 (9-10 p.m. ET/PT).
Caramoor Presents Handel's Pastoral Gem Atalanta and Site-Specific Production of Mozart's The Secret Gardener
San Francisco's Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra led by Nicholas McGegan anchors a presentation of Handel's pastoral three-act opera Atalanta in the Venetian Theater (July 22); and New York's On Site Opera presents a fully staged site-specific production of Mozart's charming early opera The Secret Gardener (La finta giardiniera) in Caramoor's Sunken Garden (July 13). Superstar mezzo Susan Graham will also be on hand this summer for a season-closing concert of Handel and Mozart arias with the resident Orchestra of St. Luke's (July 29); Metropolitan Opera favorite Isabel Leonard gives an intimate Spanish recital with guitarist Sharon Isbin (June 28); and San Francisco's beloved all-male chorus Chanticleer celebrates its 40th anniversary season with a centuries-spanning concert (July 26). The festival's 73rd summer season (June 16–July 29) offers these operatic and vocal events and much more, all presented on Caramoor's historic and idyllic Westchester estate: 90 acres of picturesque Italianate architecture and gardens just one hour's drive from Manhattan.
Lunar New Year Concert To Include U.S. Premiere By Andy Akiho
The New York Philharmonic announces program updates for its Lunar New Year Concert and Gala, led by Long Yu, on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. The program will feature Andy Akiho's Ricochet, Concerto for Ping Pong, Violin, Percussion, and Orchestra, featuring Philharmonic violinist Elizabeth Zeltser (in her Philharmonic solo debut), ping pong players Ariel Hsing and Michael Landers (Philharmonic debuts), and percussionist David Cossin (Philharmonic debut). As previously announced, the program will also include Li Huanzhi's Spring Festival Overture and Beethoven's Choral Fantasy, with pianist Serena Wang, the Farmers' Chorus of the Yunnan Province, soprano Vanessa Vasquez, tenors Chad Johnson and Issachah Savage, and bass Alex Rosen, all in their Philharmonic debuts (the additional soprano and mezzo-soprano will be announced at a later date).
