Epix Renews GET SHORTY for Third Season

Epix has renewed Get Shorty for a a seven-episode third season, according to Deadline. The dark comedy is one of Epix's three original three scripted series, along with Berlin Station and Graves, and comes from the now-sole owner MGM.

Premium pay television network EPIX(R) announced that the second season of its critically-acclaimed original series from MGM Television, Get Shorty, will debut on Sunday, August 12 at 9 PM ET/PT. The dark comedy, based in part on the 1990's bestselling Elmore Leonard novel of the same name and created for television by Davey Holmes (Shameless, In Treatment), is currently in production in Los Angeles.

Premium pay television network EPIX®, an MGM company, today announced that production is underway on its critically-acclaimed original series Get Shorty, with Emmy® and Golden Globe®-winning and Academy Award®-nominated actress Felicity Huffman (Transamerica, Desperate Housewives) joining the cast as a recurring guest star. Huffman will play Clara Dillard, a mothering, high-level special agent for the FBI, described as hippie therapist meets J. Edgar Hoover.

Based in part on the 1990 Elmore Leonard novel of the same name, the 10-episode original series follows Miles Daly (O'Dowd), a hitman from Nevada who tries to become a movie producer in Hollywood as a means to leave his criminal past behind and win back his recently-estranged family. There, he meets Rick Moreweather (Romano), a washed up producer of low quality films who is desperately hanging on to the rungs of Hollywood relevancy and begrudgingly becomes Miles' partner and guide through the maze of show business.
