North Coast Repertory Theatre Presents LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR

North Coast Repertory Theatre, which mounted a monster hit last year with Neil Simon's Chapter Two, is now staging LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR, the playwright's love letter to his early career as a writer for Sid Caesar's 'Your Show of Shows.'  Described by Variety as 'a battery of yuks that barely lets up,' the play recounts his writing, fighting and wacky antics during the days of live television when he cavorted with such comedy legends as Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks as they tried to please their terrifyingly demanding boss. Tickets are certain to be flying out the window for this wildly hysterically funny romp, so order early to avoid disappointment.

TV: Get to Know the Cast of Florida's HEATHERS: THE MUSICAL

The Gen Y Productions' Florida premiere of the hit film adaptation HEATHERS: THE MUSICAL enters its final weekend at The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando, FL. Crowds and critics have raved about the production (click here to read my review), and many have come in costume and carrying croquet mallets and Corn Nuts at every performance. As they prepared for their Opening Night, I sat down with the show's stars Nicola Visco (Veronica), Thomas Sanders (J.D.), Lindsey Wells (Heather Chandler), Caroline Drage (Heather Duke), and Jillian Gizzi (Heather McNamara) and chatted about the show, their roles, and what they were like in high school. Check out the video below.
BWW Review: Gen Y's Florida Premiere of HEATHERS: THE MUSICAL is 'So Very' and So Much More

There is something killer going on in Orlando's theatre scene, and I mean that in the best possible way. Since debuting with a production of CABARET in January, Gen Y Productions has staged thrilling Florida premieres of two of New York's most buzzed-about new works, a risky proposition for a theatre company looking to build an audience. In June, it was a mesmerizing production of Pulitzer Prize-winner THE FLICK (read BWW's review), and now it is the devilishly entertaining HEATHERS: THE MUSICAL. The show runs through August 23rd at The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, and after attending last week's Opening Night, I think it is safe to say that Gen Y is quickly becoming my favorite theatre company in Central Florida.

BWW Reviews: Theatre Downtown's GODSPELL Mixes Pop Culture With Old World Stories

The story is familiar, Jesus lives, does some supernatural stuff, changes the world, and dies. The real Jesus would never guessed that his story would mesh with "Ain't nobody got no time fo' dat" lady or a singing goat, but it happened and it was awesome.
