Durante el coloquio 80 años del exilio español: influencias y aportaciones a la vida musical de México, realizado en el Conservatorio Nacional de Música del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBAL), se destacó el trabajo de las compositoras Emiliana de Zubeldía y María Teresa Prieto, quienes crearon en México sus obras más importantes, así como el trabajo historiográfico del musicólogo Otto Mayer-Serra y la aportación de los artistas flamencos.

Para recordar las ocho décadas del exilio español en México, el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBAL), a través del Centro Nacional de Investigación, Documentación e Información Musical Carlos Chávez (Cenidim), llevará a cabo la jornada 80 años del exilio español: influencias y aportaciones a la vida musical de México, el jueves 24 de octubre a partir de las 11:00 horas en la Sala 4 Agustín Caballero del Conservatorio Nacional de Música.

Helmed by the niece of legendary Gypsy flamenco dancer, Carmen Amaya, this ensemble of artists from Mexico and Spain will dazzle in Templanza, a sensuous journey through the history of flamenco and its Gitano origins. Each evening will also feature a special opening performance: On September 16, Saskatoon's celebrated ¡ARTE! Flamenco will share the evocative De Cal, Canto y Arena; On September 17, Vancouver's own Flamenco Rosario will start the night with their playful Flamenqueando. Tickets will go on sale August 13.

One of the greatest things about the Kennedy Center is its long history of exposing Washington, DC audiences to a healthy selection of international theatre, music, and dance artists. A major facet of this programming is an annual international arts festival, which, this year, is focused on the Iberian Peninsula and, by extension, other countries that have been heavily influenced by Spain and/or Portugal. Particularly exciting is the Washington, DC premiere of Ballet Flamenco Sara Baras' VOCES, SUITE FLAMENCA.
