May's Guest Soloist Rachel Barton Pine Performs Vancouver Symphony Debut After A 12-Month Postponement

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra concludes an exciting season of in-person and live streamed performances May 2022 with virtuoso violinist Rachel Barton Pine. Originally scheduled for May 2021, this greatly anticipated program features Pine performing Korngold's most beloved work: his lush and complex Violin Concerto, under the baton of Maestro Salvador Brotons.
NJSO Presents 'Big Carl', 4/9

Concertgoers can see, hear and take photos with “Big Carl,” Carl Fischer Music's historic giant tuba, at a free NJSO Accent event following the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra's performance of Vaughan Williams' Tuba Concerto with NJSO Principal Tuba Derek Fenstermacher on Sunday, April 9, at 3 pm at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. Tuba players who bring their own mouthpieces can enter a drawing for a chance to play the nearly 8-foot-tall, 100-pound instrument. College students can also see Big Carl at the College Night party after the 8 pm concert on Friday, April 7.

Center for Contemporary Opera to Present 3 New Opera's 'In Progress' July 20-27

The Center for Contemporary Opera (CCO), founded in 1982 and recognized as a leading proponent of new opera, will present the World Premiere of 'Oration' by Danish composer Ms. Line Tjórnhój, and three operas-in-progress at its July 20-27 season at NYC's Cell Theater, 338 West 23rd Street. Conductor/Music Director of CCO is Sara Jobin.
Opening Weekend of Soundtheater/Opera HAMLET Rescheduled

Due to technical difficulties, the official opening night of Carson Kievman's 'HAMLET Soundtheater/Opera,' at SoBe Arts' Little Stage Theater, will be moved to Friday, March 2. Additional performances will take place (as previously scheduled) through March 11, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., and Sundays at 7:30 p.m.

Executive Artistic Director Carson Kievman has announced that SoBe Institute of the Arts (SoBe Arts) will present staged readings of promising new plays, beginning with Acapulco by New York writer Jacquelyn Reingold (HBO's In Treatment, Law and Order, and produced off-Broadway) and featuring L.A.-based Evan Handler ('Sex and the City,' 'Californication,' and films by Ron Howard and Oliver Stone) in addition to local artists.
