BWW Review: THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME at SHEA'S 710 Theatre

After 20 months of sitting on a darkened stage at Shea's 710 Theatre, All For One Theatre Productions dusted off the set that has sat idle for the brilliant production of THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME. The production closed on opening night in March 2020, never being able to be seen by a paying audience due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Now with a vaccinated and masked audience, the abundance of talent that went into making this production can now be seen. It was definitely worth the wait.
ART/WNY Presents BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S

American Repertory Theater of WNY will present the fifth production of the 2018-19 season with the stage adaptation of Truman Capote's famed novella Breakfast At Tiffney's. Written by American playwright Richard Greenberg, the work follows one of Capote's endearing literary figures, 'Holly Golightly' as seen through the eyes of an up-and-coming writer nicknamed 'Fred'. Presented at ART/WNY 545 Elmwood location, Breakfast at Tiffany's runs January 31st to February 16th, showtimes at 8 pm, Thursday through Saturday. Tickets are $20 General/$10 Student and Industry.

ART/WNY Presents MEET ME IN ST LOUIS

American Repertory Theater will be presenting the classic Americana story MEET ME IN ST LOUIS in a radio-play/ song & dance format set in the 1940's. Showdates are December 14th & 15th, 21st & 22nd with all showtimes at 8 pm. There will be one Saturday matinee on December 15th at 4 pm. All shows will be performed at the company's new how at 545 Elmwood Avenue, in the heart of Buffalo's Elmwood strip. The American Repertory Theater of WNY presents the second production of the 2018-19 season with American playwright Sam Shepard's classic work, FOOL FOR LOVE. This will mark the first production in the new 545 Elmwood Avenue location. FOOL FOR LOVE runs November 1st to November 17th, all showtimes at 8 pm. There will be a special Industry Night scheduled for November 11th, 7 pm. Ticket prices are $20 General Admission; Student & Industry $10.
ART Returns To The Loft

In American Repertory Theater of WNY's inaugural season, the company found a perfect theatrical space to operate two of the three shows slated in the 2007-08 season. Working out of the TheaterLoft (545 Elmwood Avenue), home to the acclaimed and diverse Ujima Theatre Company, ART/WNY presented two works WHEN YA COMING BACK, RED RYDER, by Mark Medoff, and Tennessee William's THE ROSE TATTOO (which earned the company's first Artie Nomination for Best Ensemble). These two productions brought notoriety to the upstart company and established ART/WNY's reputation for producing thought-provoking, unknown or rarely done works that tell the American story.

In her Artistic Director inaugural season and making her debut as a director for ART/WNY, Candice Kogut will oversee this compelling and timely piece of American musical theater. HEATHERS THE MUSICAL opens on September 6th and runs to September 22nd at ART/WNY's new 3200 Elmwood Avenue performance space located in the heart of Kenton, NY. Ticket prices are $25 General/$20 Student and Veteran.

ART/WNY Finds New Performance Spaces

The American Repertory Theater of WNY will operate out of two new performances spaces for the 2018-19 season and for future seasons. Signing a 10-year lease with Sinatra & Company Real Estate, American Repertory Repertory of WNY will operate out the the former Theatreloft space on 545 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo New York. The company has also entered into an agreement with TCS Development LLC to perform out the Philip Sheridan building on 3200 Elmwood Avenue, Tonawanda NY.   'We have gone from zero to 120 overnight.' Executive Director Matthew LaChiusa on the recent developments. 'The opportunities presented to us will enable this company's future for years to come. We are excited to be working with strong partners and ready to get these ventures rolling.'

Tom Waits has been painting an Americana landscape with his music over the past three decades. Much of his lyrics weave fictional individuals through nonfictional settings in the same 'dirty reality' style American short-story writer Raymond Carver and poet Charles Bukowski displayed in their works. The characters, the lives they lead, the dialogs, the monologs all within Waits vast encyclopedia of songs lend themselves to a theatrical setting where all are could be brought to life.
