Lineup Announced for Second Annual Dallas Cabaret Festival
The momentum of last year's first Dallas Cabaret Festival will continue with an outstanding line up for the Second Annual Dallas Cabaret Festival, July 27-29, at the Women's Museum at Fair Park (3800 Parry Avenue, Dallas, TX 75226). Opening this year's festival on July 27 at 7:30 p.m. will be the mesmerizing vocalist and former Raelette, Cynthia Scott . Cynthia will be debuting her new cabaret show 'All About Love.'
BWW Review: MEMPHIS at Theatre Three
By 2009, when the musical MEMPHIS opened on Broadway, America had nearly 60 years since the Civil Rights Movement began in the 1950s. But, despite significant progress, headlines even today continue to affirm our society's failings in the areas of discrimination and prejudice. Monday night, when the house lights faded for opening night of MEMPHIS at Theatre Three, the crowd cheered. Although I was just as eager to support the company's newest production, I'd not considered how moved I would be by the historic, but still timely themes.

Memphis is set in the 1950s where rock 'n' roll was born: the seedy underground nightclubs, radio stations and recording studios of the musically-rich Tennessee city. With an original book and score by David Bryan (keyboard player, songwriter and founding member of Bon Jovi) and Joe DiPietro (I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change and All Shook Up!), it tells the fictional story of Huey Calhoun, a white radio DJ with a passion for R&B music and Felicia Farrell, an up-and-coming black club singer that he meets one fateful night on Beale Street. Despite the objections of their loved ones (Huey's close-minded mama and Felicia's cautious brother, a club owner), they embark on a dangerous affair. Filled with high-octane dancing, songs that perfectly capture the era, and an absorbing tale of fame and forbidden love, the show offers soaring emotion and roof-raising rock 'n' roll.

WaterTower Theatre Producing Artistic Director and Loop Executive Producer Terry Martin today announced casting for Honky, WaterTower Theatre's entry for the 2014 Out of the Loop Fringe Festival, March 6-16, 2014 at the Addison Theatre and Conference Centre. Directed by Kelsey Leigh Ervi, the cast will feature Calvin Roberts as Thomas Hodge, Alan Pollard as Davis Tallison, Ian Ferguson as Peter Trammel, Rebecca McDonald as Emilia Hodge, Whitney Holotik as Andie Chastain, Jeff Burleson as Dr. Driscoll/Others, Adam A. Watertower Theatre to Extend SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE Revue Through 8/19
Terry Martin, producing artistic director of WaterTower Theatre, today announced an extension of SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE, which is now playing. The musical revue will be extended for one week through Sun., Aug. 19 with the addition of five performances: Wed., Aug. 15 at 7:30PM, Thurs., Aug. 16 at 7:30PM, Fri., Aug. 17 at 8PM, Sat., Aug. 18 at 8PM and Sun., Aug. 19 at 2PM.
