Training: Identity School of Acting and Maktub Theatre Company. Cal-I is also a qualified secondary school teacher.
Theatre includes: Joseph and Noah in And There Was War (Catford Broadway).

Soho Theatre has announced its joint winners of the 2023 Tony Craze Award – Laith Elzubaidi and Maryam Garad. The highly commended award goes to Cal-I Jonel. This is the first time, since the award's inception, that the top prize has been awarded to two writers.

Nouveau Riche and Paines Plough have announced We Rise, a free five-part series of short films shining a light on how to manoeuvre, cope and self-care against racism in the theatre sector. The films will be released weekly and readily available to everyone on Youtube, Instagram and Facebook with the first episode airing on Wednesday 16 November.
