BIO

Caitlin Ehlinger was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She began dancing at the age of 3 and Suzanne Semans Studio became her "home away from home" as her love for dance grew. When she was 10, Suzanne Semans ("Miss Susie") included her in the studio's annual summer trip to NYC. It was a fabulous trip - filled with private lessons, classes at Broadway Dance Center, Steps and Alvin Ailey, and as many Broadway shows as time allowed. Throughout high school, Caitlin spent most of her school holidays taking classes in NYC.

As a high school senior, Caitlin planned to move to New York City in Fall 2015 to begin a gap year (or two) of training and auditions. In February 2015, she convinced her parents to fly her back to NYC (the week after StrawHat Auditions) to audition at the 42nd Street open call. She had a great sales pitch: since the 8th grade, her dream was to postpone college and dance for Choreographer Randy Skinner in a national tour.

Caitlin is honored, thrilled (and amazed!) to be living her dream of dancing for choreographer Randy Skinner ... she will join the 42nd Street National Tour in Fall 2015 as Peggy Sawyer!

42ND STREET Company Gives Back to Dallas Community

This week, Dallas became the stage for a tragic sniper attack as Dallas police officers were gunned down while supporting a local peaceful protest. Just a few miles down the road, the touring company of 42ND STREET was onstage at the Music Hall at Fair Park, where they are just concluding their two-week visit before performing a one-week run at Fort Worth's Bass Performance Hall. As a response to the Dallas attack, as well as the other high-profile shootings over the last month, the cast decided to give something back to the community who has been coming out in full force to support them.
BWW Review: 42ND STREET at Music Hall At Fair Park

Awash in red velvet and gold fringe, the Music Hall at Fair Park stage appeared ready to drift back to the glory days of 1930's Broadway this week as the cast of 42nd Street moved their dancing feet to the Dallas Summer Musicals leg of their national tour. Originally produced in 1980, 42nd Street quickly became a Broadway classic winning Tony Awards® for Best Musical and Best Choreography under the direction of Gower Champion. Its revival in 2001 was equally well-received with a Tony Award® for Best Revival of a Musical. 42nd Street is the archetypal tale of a small town girl named Peggy (played by Caitlin Ehlinger) achieving her big Broadway dreams by understudying starlet Dorothy Brock (Kaitlin Lawrence) with the grace of a hotshot producer, Julian Marsh (Matthew J. Taylor).
Four Texans Featured in 42ND STREET Tour, Coming to Dallas Summer Musicals and Bass Hall!

Next week, the national touring cast of 42nd STREET arrives at Dallas Summer Musicals, featuring a cast of 38 accomplished actors, singers and tap dancers. Although many of the touring gypsies currently consider New York City their home base, four of them were raised locally in the Lone Star State, and cannot wait to put on their dancing shoes back home next week. While on a one-week lay off from the tour this week, I caught up with Texas's own Caitin Ehlinger, Matthew J. Taylor, Mandy Modic and Sarah Fagan. The show runs in Dallas from June 28th to July 10th, and at Forth Worth's Bass Hall July 12th-17th.

BWW Review: 42ND STREET National Tour at Durham Performing Arts Center

Based on Bradford Ropes' 1932 novel as well as Busby Berkeley's 1933 film musical adaptation of the same name, 42nd Street tells the story of famed dictatorial Great White Way director Julian Marsh to mount a successful stage production of a musical extravaganza at the height of the Great Depression. When the star breaks her ankle, a young, small town girl named Peggy Sawyer takes over and becomes a star herself.

The tour of 42ND STREET recently performed at Wausau's Grand Theater. But despite its many virtues, 42ND STREET never really 'clicked.'
BWW Review: Fleet-Footed Ensemble Fuels Fabulous 42nd STREET

It's all about the chorus kids in 42nd STREET, the latest national touring company to come through town. And these kids have talent and energy to spare. Better act fast, though, because this Broadway in Chicago offering will be shuffling off to Buffalo -- or wherever it's headed next -- faster than their dancing feet can rip through a pair of tap shoes.

BWW Review: Rousing New 42ND STREET Tour Dazzles OC with Its Fancy Footwork

Need a pick-me-up from a bad day? Aching to smile heartily through a pleasantly peppy stage musical? Then you need not look further than the rousing, just-launched new touring production of the Tony Award-winning hit 42ND STREET, now currently entertaining audiences at Orange County's Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa through November 22. Earnestly cheerful and unabashedly optimistic, this feel-good, all-singing, all-dancing 1980 stage adaptation of Busby Berkeley's classic 1933 movie musical is back on the road in a brand new, non-Equity national tour directed by co-writer Mark Bramble, who earned a Tony nomination for directing the Tony-winning 2001 Broadway revival. Aside from its Broadway-caliber creative aspects, this new tour succeeds tremendously thanks to its young, energetic, and incredibly likable ensemble cast that brings vim and vigor to the aging Great-Great-Grand-Daddy of all backstage musicals.
