Jenji Kohan to Receive Writers Guild of America West's 2019 Laurel Award

Television series creator-showrunner Jenji Kohan (Orange is the New Black, Weeds) has been named the recipient of the Writers Guild of America West's 2019 Paddy Chayefsky Laurel Award for Television Writing Achievement, presented to a Guild member who has “advanced the literature of television and made outstanding contributions to the profession of the television writer.” She will be honored at the WGAW's 2019 Writers Guild Awards L.A. show on Sunday, February 17, 2019.

A lineup of top entertainers including, Julie Andrews, Lucie Arnaz, Tony Bennett, Tim Conway, Tina Fey, Rashida Jones, Vicki Lawrence, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Martin Short, Rosemary Watson and others will salute Carol Burnett at the 16th Annual Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. The evening will pay tribute the humor and accomplishments of Carol Burnett, and will be taped by WETA Washington, D.C. as Carol Burnett: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize. The program will air on PBS stations nationwide November 24, 2013 (check local listings). Artists are subject to change.

On June 11th, 2008 COMPOSE YOURSELF! began at the York Theatre Company The music is by Larry Grossman with lyrics by Hal Hackady, Ellen Fitzhugh, Betty Comden & Adolph Green, Buz Kohan, Carol Hall, Fred Ebb,Amanda Green, Drey Shepperd and Michael Korie. The cast boasts Nikki Renee Daniels (Les Misérables), Darius de Haas (Rent), Jason Graae (A Grand Night for Singing), Tony Nomimee Liz Larsen (Hairspray, The Most Happy Fella), Lorna Luft (Guys and Dolls) and Howard McGillin (The Phantom of the Opera). Stuart Ross (Forever Plaid creator) directs the production with music direction by David Snyder. Award-winning composer Grossman is featured at the piano.
