Joe Ely Taps Bruce Springsteen for New Single 'Odds of the Blues' Ahead of New LP
With twenty-three albums and several million miles under the West Texas native’s belt, Driven to Drive is Ely’s first road album, featuring a collection of songs inspired by his travels. “I wrote the [Odds of the Blues] later when I put my studio together in Austin,' he said. 'I asked Bruce recently if he would like to sing with me on this song and he said he’d love to. We’ve been long lost friends for a long time...' Listen to the new single!

The album marks their first collection of newly recorded music in more than 12 years and was completed during the COVID-19 lockdown with the assistance of multi-instrumentalist Lloyd Maines, who co-produced the album alongside Ely.

Now, they will play together at the South Orange Performing Arts Center on Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. for the very first time. Though far from home, Alvin and Gilmore's first duo album, Downey to Lubbock, contains all the elements that have sustained their musical journey through the years.
