Bruce Cromer has been a proud member of Actors' Equity Association since 1981. A BFA Acting graduate from the Professional Actor Training Program at Wright State University, in Dayton, Ohio, Bruce was already acting professionally with the Alabama Shakespeare Festival before his graduation. A leading actor, fight choreographer, and stage combat instructor with ASF for seven seasons, Bruce acted in over half of the Shakespeare canon: playing Hamlet, Romeo, Tybalt, Prince Hal, Macduff, Guiderius in CYMBELINE, Charles Surface in THE SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL, Sebastian in two TWELFTH NIGHTs, Lysander in two MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAMs, Proteus in two TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONAs, Richmond in RICHARD III, etc.
He has also acted with the Santa Fe Stages International Theatre Festival, the Conservatory Theatre Company in Seattle, the Seattle Childrens' Theatre, the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, the Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati, the Clarence Brown Theatre in Knoxville, TN, the Globe Theatre in Los Angeles, the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, and the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. He has been a Resident Artist since 1987 with the Human Race Theatre Company in Dayton, Ohio.
Bruce is a Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors, with over forty choreographed productions across the U.S. He is a full Professor of Acting and Movement with the BFA Acting program at Wright State, where he has taught since 1987.
A firm believer in the American National (Regional) Theatre, Mr. Cromer makes his home in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
Bruce played Kim Burke in the Focus Features film DARK WATERS, with Mark Ruffalo, directed by Todd Haynes.
