The University Press of Kentucky Announces New Literacy Project
The University Press of Kentucky has partnered with Kentucky Humanities on its new statewide literacy project, Kentucky Reads: All the King's Men. The program will use Robert Penn Warren's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel to guide a statewide conversation on contemporary populism and political discourse and their relationship to journalism. With funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities, Kentucky Humanities will host a series of community discussions and events centered on Warren's celebrated work and what it can teach us today.
BWW Review: BORN YESTERDAY at Asolo Repertory Theatre
In its 58th season, the enchanting Asolo Repertory Theatre hit the ball out of the park with its staging of Born Yesterday. Many will remember the 1950 film version staring Broderick Crawford as Harry Brock, the controlling, corrupt business tycoon, playing sugar daddy to love interest Billie Dawn, portrayed by Judy Holliday. Miss Holliday was honored with an Academy Award for Best Actress, reprising her role from the 1946 Broadway production by Garson Kanin.

Point Park University's The REP Announces 2014-2015 Season
The 2014-2015 season of The REP, Point Park University's professional theatre company, will include two world premieres by Pittsburgh playwrights, a classic by Nobel laureate John Steinbeck and a hilarious comedy about an American singer renowned for her lack of rhythm, tone and especially an ability to sing.
James Franco Confirms Chris O'Dowd to Costar in OF MICE AND MEN on Broadway
As BroadwayWorld reported last week, John Steinbeck's OF MICE AND MEN will be heading to Broadway beginning (tentatively) Saturday, March 22, 2014, with an opening night slated for Thursday, April 17, 2014. The show is set to run through Sunday, July 27, 2014. The play will be directed by Anna D. Shapiro. James Franco has just confirmed in an interview with US Weekly that he will lead the production as 'George', and Chris O'Dowd (Bridesmaids, Girls) will costar as 'Lennie.' Additional casting has not yet been announced.

Now according to the New York Times, the production will be led by James Franco as 'George', who has been long rumored to be involved with the revival. Though no one has signed on to play 'Lennie', Chris O'Dowd (Bridesmaids, Girls) is in talks to make his Broadway debut in the role. Additional casting has not yet been announced.
