BIO

Brian Rooney's first foray into stage acting was in Mass! at UC Berkeley circa 1972 at the age of 10 - he has been onstage ever since. Appearing in over 150 productions from Artful Dodger in Oliver! (Spokane Civic Theatre) to JJ Hunsecker in Sweet Smell of Success (Kokandy Productions). Brian earned his BA in Theatre from University of Portland while appearing in Tony and Tina's Wedding (Hey City Theatre), Jeckyl and Hyde (Broadway Rose) and Macbeth (Portland Ensemble Theatre). His MFA is from University of South Carolina where he played Ariel in Pillowman and Jacques in As You Like It on their mainstage. Regional successes include State of the Union, Pride & Prejudice and Cherry Orchard (Milwaukee Repertory Theatre); Tempest, Richard III and Scapin (Illinois Shakespeare Festival); The Lost Colony (Manteo, NC). Now a resident actor in Chicago where he has gotten critical acclaim in The Man Who Was Thursday (New Leaf Theatre), A Christmas Carol (Drury Lane), Madness of George III (Chicago Shakespeare Theatre), Carnival (Lost Note Theatricals) and Paradise Lost (ShawChicago).
