BWW Review: BRIGHT STAR at Sheyenne High School

This might be the first time this show has been done locally, but it's definitely the first time I have seen it. This beautiful show was created by Steve Martin & Edie Brickell. The story is based on a true event, not a true story.
BWW Review: SWEENEY TODD at West Fargo High School

The musical of Sweeney Todd first hit Broadway in 1979. This haunting musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim is a modern classic. The horrid story of a vengeful barber who assists her partner in getting some special ingredients for her famous meat pies.

BWW Review: RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA at Trollwood Performing Arts School

Trollwood is back! The moment so many kids and their friends and families have been waiting for. After no show in 2020, everyone came together in 2021 to bring back an important part of summer for so many.
BWW Review: ALL SHOOK UP at FMCT

For anyone looking for a purely fun show with great music this is it. This show will have you tapping your feet, clapping your hands and singing along. All Shook Up is a 2004 jukebox musical set to the music of Elvis Presley. The story in this production is similar to Footloose. We have a small town with rules against loud music, public 'neckin' etc.. We have an outsider who comes to town and try to change everything, and of course we have the hilarious multi-person love triangle, although it's definitely more than a triangle.
BWW Review: BEAUTY AND THE BEAST at Gooseberry Park PLayers

A tale as old as time... The favorite Disney classic makes it way to the stage at Horizon Middle School in Moorhead courtesy of GPP. This show originally planned for summer 2020, but we all know what happened in 2020.
BWW Review: SISTER ACT at Oak Grove Theatre Arts

The kids from Oak Grove take you to church, or maybe even to Heaven in this toe tapping, family friendly musical production.
BWW Review: THE OUTSIDERS at West Fargo Sheyenne

Based on the classic novel by S.E. Hinton which she started writing at the age of 15 in 1965 and published in 1967, The Outsiders is a coming of age novel about the conflict between two rival gangs: The Greasers and The Socs (Short for Socials). The book is written in the first person as told by Ponyboy Curtis. The play does try to stick to that also by having Ponyboy narrate numerous parts. The Play was first published in 1990 and I hear there is a musical adaptation in the works.
BWW Review: WIZARD OF OZ at Gooseberry Park Players

The story of The Wizard of Oz has been told numerous times in many different ways. Originally a book written in 1900 by L. Frank Baum with the first Broadway musical adaption coming in 1902. Of course the most popular version is the 1939 musical film adaption starring Judy Garland as Dorothy. For the 60th anniversary of the film release the Gooseberry Park Players decided to bring the story to their stage. Most people know the story, but this version may offer some new scenes not seen by many before, including the 'Jitterbug' song/scene that was actually cut from the original movie due to time constraints.

BWW Review: A REAL BOY at 59E59 Theaters Brings Important Issues to the Stage

The World Premiere of 'A Real Boy' is now onstage at 59E59 Theaters through August 27. Written by Stephen Kaplan and directed by Audrey Alford, this cleverly staged show provides a view of how parenting, education, and government policy can affect a young child.
