BWW Review: THE ADDAMS FAMILY at Theatre Three
Leave it to Theatre Three in Port Jefferson to turn a snoozer on Broadway into a hit musical comedy on Long Island. Their latest production is 'The Addams Family' and it is funny, fabulous and pure nostalgia! Gomez, Morticia, and all of your favorite creepy crawlies are scaring up Port Jeff and getting their spook on for Wednesday Addams' nuptials.
BWW Review: The Long Island Premiere of BULLETS OVER BROADWAY At The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre
The incarnation of Bullets Over Broadway, The Musical at Oakdale's Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC), is certainly an enjoyable one. Strongly directed by CMPAC Artistic Director Patrick Grossman, the Long Island premiere, running through August 11th, spectacularly closes out the venue's thrilling 42nd season. And let me tell you this cast is absolutely wonderful.
BWW Review: DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST at the Noel S. Ruiz Theatre
Oakdale's Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC) offers a beautiful incarnation of Disney's Beauty and the Beast this holiday season. Some may have called this a tourist trap , but you will find that the story is as relevant as ever. Based on the 1991 Oscar winning animated movie, this production is excellently directed by CMPAC vet Kristen Digilio and runs through December 23rd at the lovely Long Island venue.
BWW Review: SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER at Theatre Three
Closing out their wonderful 47th Season, Theatre Three offers a first-rate showing of the musical Saturday Night Fever. Based on the iconic 1977 movie and a story by Nik Cohn, this entertaining production, featuring songs by the Bee Gees, runs through June 24th at the charming Port Jefferson venue. This officially opened a few weeks ago and judging by the enthusiastic and still-packed house, you will certainly need to get your tickets quickly.
BWW Review: SISTER ACT at the Noel S. Ruiz Theatre is fabulous, baby!
I am a longtime fan of Whoopi Goldberg with the Sister Act movies ranking as some of my all-time favorites. So, as you can imagine, I am thoroughly excited to again see the musical adaptation now playing at Long Island's Noel Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC). This lively production, kicking off their 40th season, runs through March 25th at the Oakdale venue.
BWW Review: LEGALLY BLONDE at Theatre Three
Omigod, you guys! Broadway's most fashionable lawyer is currently holding court at Theatre Three in Port Jefferson, Long Island. Tony nominee Legally Blonde, The Musical, based on the 2001 Reese Witherspoon movie, had an exciting opening weekend complete with a stellar cast and a very enthusiastic audience. Truly, I can't say enough about this wonderful incarnation.
BWW Review: WEST SIDE STORY at CMPAC
Being there are many productions of the iconic musical West Side Story running at any one time, it is imperative that the cast be absolutely brilliant. Indeed, the company at The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center does not disappoint under the outstanding direction of Martin Aviles, who has been in several productions of West Side Story himself. This dazzling production, playing through August 28th at the Oakdale venue, will leave you extremely impressed with the incredible talent Long Island has to offer.
BWW Review: THE WEDDING SINGER at The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre
In spite of what you may have heard or read about this show from its 2006 Broadway incarnation, The Wedding Singer is certainly an enjoyable time. Who doesn't love 1980's campiness? Not only that, the Tony nominated stage version stays very true to the hilarious Adam Sandler movie particularly with the dialog.
BWW Review: THE MUSIC MAN at the Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CMPAC
Having previously attended a wonderful local production of Meredith Willson's Tony winning musical The Music Man, I was bursting with high hopes for the incarnation at The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CMPAC. In a strong main stage directorial debut, CMPAC vet Matt W. Surico - usually the Music Director and/or cast member - doesn't disappoint assembling an outstanding cast and crew for this classic show.
CM Performing Arts to Present GUYS AND DOLLS, Begin. 5/2
Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy - considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy. It soars with the spirit of Broadway as it introduces us to a cast of vivid characters: Sarah Brown, the upright but uptight 'mission doll' and Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler who would bet on anything that would turn him a profit - until he meets his match in Sarah. We also meet the chronically ill Adelaide and Nathan Detroit, her devoted fiance, desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous floating crap game. Will 'Luck Be A Lady' to these star crossed lovers?
