Review: FROM BROADWAY TO HOLLYWOOD at Oscars Cabaret & Nightclub

Nicolas Dromard & Desireé Davar premiered their cabaret show From Broadway to Hollywood Saturday night at Oscar’s to a packed and very receptive house. The concept of the show is literally their journey from Broadway to Hollywood, covering how they met, how he proposed, some terrific and appropriate songs along the way and a lot of tap dancing (more on that later).

Suffice it to say that the company members of the Broadway National Tour of WICKED are popular with St. John's Episcopal Church supporters-very. While here in Michigan for their month-long stop at the Detroit Opera House-their last performance is Sept. 2- the WICKED team left the Land of Oz for one evening to perform a sold-out benefit concert in front of 450 supporters. It was Witches' Night Off and oh, what a night.

Alysha Umphress has a special relationship with Barrington Stage Company and William Finn so it wasn't a surprise that on her day off from On The Town she came to Pittsfield and sang in Mr. Finn's Cabaret. It also wasn't a surprise the demand for tickets was so great that a second late show had to be added.

Friday night after the show I walked down the street to Evita and met up with my friend, Erica Mansfield. We hopped into a cab and made our way east to Biblioteca to grab a drink in honor, Evan, Julie Kotaride's fiance's, 30th birthday. Birthday cheer and margaritas hit the spot.
