SF Sketchfest presented by Audible announces even more additions to the lineup for the 18th annual San Francisco Comedy Festival January 10-27. SAN FRANCISCO SKETCHFEST Lineups Announced!
SF Sketchfest was founded in 2001 by David Owen, Cole Stratton, and Janet Varney as a way to showcase the talents of six Bay Area sketch comedy groups: The Fresh Robots, Kasper Hauser, The Meehan Brothers, Please Leave the Bronx, Totally False People, and White Noise Radio Theatre. The festival debuted in January of 2002 at the Shelton Theatre in downtown San Francisco and has grown rapidly into a nationally recognized comedy festival that mixes national headliners, local favorites, and the best up-and-coming groups from throughout North America for a month of sketch, improv, stand-up, and alternative comedy. In the wake of the tragic Ghostship fire in Oakland, the Hollywood Improv hosts a night of comedy and music to raise funds for the impacted community. Last Comic Standing's Sheng Wang to Release Debut Album, Today
Los Angeles, September 9, 2015 - Comedy fans, rejoice: Asian American comedian Sheng Wang may have been cut from “Last Comic Standing,” but his debut comedy album will be released this today, September 11. Featuring full versions of jokes edited in the show and a bounty of other hits, his album “Cornucopias Are Actually Horrible Containers” was recorded at the Punch Line Comedy Club in San Francisco. Wang, a UC Berkeley graduate, considers The Punch Line a home base, since it was at this club that he “grew up” in his comedy career.
QWEIRDO to Bring Improv to iO, 6/1
QWEIRDO! is a recurring showcase of Chicago's top gay comedians and improvisers coming together on Sundays to make you laugh in the way that only your gay best friend (or a drunk Jessica Lange) can. The anchor improv team is 'ThoraBirch' featuring Drew Anderson, Thom Gaughan, and Derek Van Barham. They will invite different gay groups and solo acts to perform with them each Sunday.
