Amas Musical Theatre, in assocation with Tall Tree Productions is presenting the Off Broadway premiere of Distant Thunder: A New American Musical written by the mother and son team – Lynne Taylor-Corbettt and Shaun Taylor-Corbett. The Tower Theatre Foundation will present the first ever 'Stage the Change' event on the West Coast. High school students from throughout the Pacific Northwest are invited to attend this two-day conference which is developed in partnership with the New York based non-profit Stage the Change. The goal of 'Stage the Change' is to inspire, teach, and help attendees employ the performing arts to find their social voice to become responsible global citizens and catalysts for change.

Lyric Theatre's latest New Work is the Native musical DISTANT THUNDER. Distant Thunder tells the story of Darrell Waters. The young lawyer returns home to a community he doesn't remember and re-learns about his heritage, regaining new friendships and relationships along the way. Native culture is alive and on full display in this beautiful musical.

Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff, Artistic Producer) in celebration of its 50th season, will present Distant Thunder with book by Lynne Taylor-Corbett and Shaun Taylor-Corbett, music and lyrics by Chris Wiseman and Shaun Taylor-Corbett, with additional music and lyrics by Robert Lindsey-Nassif and Michael Moricz, the fourth and final new musical in development included in this year's 'Dare to Be Different' series. Performances are Thursday, December 6 at 3pm & 7pm and Friday, December 7 at 3pm at A.R.T./New York Theatres (502 West 53rd Street - 10th Avenue & 53rd Street).

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will reach a long-overdue milestone this month with the opening of the world-premiere production of Off the Rails, the 82-year-old Festival's first play by a Native writer. Playwright Randy Reinholz's irreverent and subversive adaptation of Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, directed by OSF Artistic Director Bill Rauch, previews July 27, 28 and 29, opens July 30 and runs in the Angus Bowmer Theatre through the end of the 2017 season.
