Hell in a Handbag Productions will continue its 21st season with the Chicago premiere of I Promised Myself to Live Faster, an intergalactic queer extravaganza featuring closeted extraterrestrials, high stakes pursuits and nuns from outer space, featuring text by Greg Moss and Pig Iron, originally created and conceived by Pig Iron Theatre Company and directed by JD Caudill.

I Promised Myself to Live Faster will play March 23 – April 16, 2023 at The Chopin Upstairs Theatre.

Cast Announced For YEAR OF THE QUEER, LGBTQ Showcase During Chicago Theatre Week
Fireflower Productions is partnering with Trans Voices Cabaret CHI to declare 2020 the 'Year of the Queer.' The groups will produce a show occurring Sunday, February 16th at 7:30 PM, and Monday, February 17th at 7:30 PM, both at Stage 773 (1225 W Belmont Ave) to amplify queer voices in Chicago. This showcase of Chicago LGBTQ musical theatre performers is carving out space for LGBTQ talent during Chicago Theatre Week in order to push recognition and opportunities for LGBTQ performers in the Chicago area.

Playwright Lyle Kessler is perhaps best known as the author of 'Orphans' which began its stage life at the Matrix Theater in Los Angeles. Similar to the two lost brothers living in Philadelphia looking for family in that play, Kessler's new play 'The Great Divide' also centers on two very different brothers in the Fishtown area of Philadelphia dealing with the loss of their mother and overhearing father as best they can while life throws them curve balls, especially when two unexpected siblings show up and break into their family home looking for love as well as money.
