Birdland was a 'scary' place last night as Orfeh and Andy Karl rocked on Halloween night in the Broadway at Birdland concert series! In their show titled 'Songs from the Crypt' the audience was invited to celebrate the Karls' favorite holiday with some favorite songs. Costumes were encouraged, and there were candy prizes delivered by Andy Karl himself! Their rockin' band included Steven Jamail(Music Director/Pianist), Britt Bonney (Keyboard), Tim Kodres (vocals), Jeremy Yaddaw (Drums), and Micah Burgess (Guitar).
School of American Ballet's 2015 Winter Ball Raises Over $1.39 Million
The School of American Ballet's 2015 Winter Ball took place at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater on Monday, March 9, 2015 and raised more than $1.39 million for scholarships and school programs. Legendary French jeweler, Van Cleef & Arpels sponsored the glamorous, black-tie dinner dance for the eighth consecutive year. The evening began with cocktails at 7pm and dinner at 8pm, followed by a student performance choreographed specially for the occasion, and The Encore dessert and dancing. The proceeds from this event enhance every aspect of the School's extraordinary ballet training program, helping to provide more than $1.9 million annually in student scholarships, as well as supporting faculty, maintaining world-class studios and offering vital student programs beyond the classroom.

There was a happening on West 44th Street! For a week, Chita Rivera brought her joyful, razzle-dazzling nightclub act to Birdland, which she calls her favorite room in the city. “These walls are filled with the best music! Playing Birdland just makes me feel cool,” she proclaimed. As if her iconic Broadway career wasn't cool enough, “Chita's Back” was a concert for the history books – with the ever-youthful legend in fine fettle; singing, dancing and telling some of the best insider stories any theater-lover could hope for. Material from Bye Bye Birdie, Chicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman, West Side Story and The Visitwere included, as well as a James Taylor duet with daughter, Lisa Mordente. The swinging was band led by guitarist/percussionist Michael Croiter, with Michael Patrick Walker on piano, Jim Donica on bass, and Dan Willis on saxophone.
